Meet Nyla!
Nyla is a 4-year-old poodle mix with a big personality tucked inside a cautious little package. She hasn't always been treated with the kindness she deserved, so she may take a little time to decide that you're one of the good ones. But once Nyla feels safe, get ready - her goofy, playful, energetic personality comes bursting out!
Nyla loves going for walks and exploring, but she's just as happy curling up on the couch for a good snuggle with her person. And if you really want to win her over? Squishy toys are the way to her heart. Nyla is absolutely obsessed with them and is always ready for a little playtime with her favorites.
She's still working on perfecting her potty-training skills, but she's learning and would love a patient family willing to keep helping her along.
When it comes to other dogs, Nyla is pretty indifferent and is happiest with canine friends closer to her own size. More than anything, she's looking for someone who understands that trust takes time - and that the best relationships are sometimes the ones you have to earn.
Nyla has already made it through the hardest part of her story. Now she's ready for the part where she gets to be loved, spoiled, surrounded by squishy toys, and completely herself.

Once Nyla feels comfortable, her sweet personality starts to shine. She enjoys walks-as long as they're on the sidewalk (wet grass is apparently a five-star hard NO)-and may even break out the occasional squeaky-toy play session. She's fine with children ages 4-10, is indifferent to other dogs, and does well when left alone without a crate. She's still working on housetraining and learning her signals, so patience will be important there, too. Nyla may take a little time to "achieve" her full potential, but with a calm, understanding home, this little winner could be on her way to claiming the greatest prize of all: a forever family.
